"Search is a meaning of life…”, a jubilee exhibition timed to the 80th anniversary of the Belarusian literary critic and academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Vladimir Gnilomyodv, runs in the Belarusian literature hall (No 205), from 14 December to 20 January.
Vladimir Gnilomyodov has made a significant contribution to the development of the national literary science. He studies modern Belarusian poetry, history, theory and methodology of Belarusian literature and literary criticism.
The literary critic, Alyes Yaskevich, notes: " Vladimir Gnilomyodov is the kind of man who is capable of keeping up with our turbulent and transitory time and scientifically comprehending the complex events in literature and culture, having the enviable talent of being always wisely discreet and at the same time insolent and courageous in creative comprehension and evaluation. "
The scientist’s “arsenal” includes both traditional methods and the newest ways of disclosing laws, according to which the artistic word develops. The researcher is interested in the writing of individual authors (Y. Kolas, A. Kuleshov, V. Zuyonok, E. Los, K. Kirienko, M. Tank, P. Panchenko, etc.) and the Belarusian literature of the 20th century as a form of national spiritual and aesthetic consciousness. The exhibition presents numerous monographs about Ivan Melezh, Janka Kupala, Pyatrus Brouka and other Belarusian writers, as well as critical essays in collections and magazines.
In addition, the exposition acquaints visitors with the prose of Vladimir Gnilomydov. The cycle of the writer’s novels, Ulis z Pruski, Rasіya, Vyartanne, Valoshki na myazhy, Vayna, is a panoramic picture of the life of the Western Belarusians, an encyclopedia of social, political, historical and ethnographic surrounding in which a man of the people lived in the first half of the twentieth century.
A separate exhibition section is dedicated to the activities of Vladimir Gnilomydov as a scientific editor and member of the editorial board. With his participation, scientific works on the history of ancient and modern Belarusian literature have been published, and multivolume collections of Belarusian authors have appeared.
