On March 3 the presentation "The Book is the main exhibit" was hold in the framework of the XXV Minsk International Book Fair at the central stage of the National stand of Belarus.
The book is a special historical and cultural monument, one of the oldest collectible objects. However, the first museum of the book, where it is the main exhibit, appeared only in the second half of the XIX century. Today these museums works within large libraries and book storages, printing companies and other institutions. The National Library of Belarus is not the exception.
During the presentation Maria Shopina, the chief librarian of the Library Science department told the audience about the most significant exhibition projects of Book Museum in the anniversary year of the Belarusian book-printing, as well as shared new ideas and prospects for the current year.
500-year anniversary of Belarusian book-printing encouraged for new idea and implementation of many projects aimed at promoting the rich heritage of the Belarusian book. Of course, the attention was paid to such an important group of visitors are children too.
The cultural and educational project On a Visit to Books is one of these successful initiatives of the library. Time has shown that the primary task set for the creators of the project is more done: exciting and fun classes aroused a lively response and interest of young bibliographer. The project’s creator, Tatyana Sapego, head of Research and project work sector of the Library Science Department told about the project and its first results.
Versatility and features of book publications were transmitted into a variety of book exhibitions of the National Library. Irina Vasilkovich, head of the organization of book exhibitions sector of Gallery and Exhibition Department shared with the participants of her impressions of the brightest and most interesting exhibition projects, which the main exhibit was Its Majesty book.
