Excursion and Methodological Work Department
Activities
The department's priority task is to develop and meet the informational and educational needs of users.
Duties of the department:
- organizing and conducting of guided tours;
- the observation deck maintenance;
- methodological activity;
- development and promotion of a positive image of the Library.
The major task of the Library Excursions Department is to provide detailed information on the National Library of Belarus as the main library of the Republic of Belarus, research, scientifically-methodological, information, social and cultural center, and also to develop and maintain the positive image of the Library, its popularization among inhabitants of the country and guests of Belarus.
Excursion service is carried out in view of the age of visitors of the National Library, of Belarus, the level of their education, interests and needs.
Particular attention is paid to continuous training of guides which assumes a regular updating of knowledge, a precise working off of the techniques of conducting excursions, participation in seminars on the improvement of professional skills of guides, and also methodological and scientifically-practical conferences, seminars, etc.
Training of guides is based on a principle of continuity. The Library Excursions Department provides consultations on how to prepare texts of individual excursions and how to conduct excursions; the commission on the reception of excursions is established. All this provides a high professional standard of employees.
