On April 17, the library will host events timed to the World Book and Copyright Day and the World Intellectual Property Day.

An educational seminar “Intellectual Property in the Republic of Belarus. Software and Databases” is to be held in the education technology hall (3rd floor, room 346), from 10.00 to 12.30. Experts of the National Center for Intellectual Property, the National Center for Legislation and Legal Research of the Republic of Belarus, the National Library of Belarus, lawyers and patent specialists will speak at the event.

A cultural and educational event ”The Masters of Belarusian Culture. Vladimir Olovnikov” will start in the gallery “Labyrinth” (3rd floor), at 15.00.

Transfer of rights on digital copies of author’s music manuscripts to the National Library of Belarus will take place during the event.

Vladimir Olovnikov is a well-known Belarusian composer, People’s Artist of the BSSR, author of many musical works including the popular songs Radzima maya daragaya (My Dear Homeland), The Forest Song, The Song about Minsk. His rich legacy is known both in Belarus and far beyond its borders.

The son of the composer, Igor Olovnikov, Professor, People’s Artist of Belarus, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus, will attend the event. The audience will learn more about the life and work of Vladimir Olovnikov and will listen to his music performed by Igor Olovnikov and students of the children's music school of arts № 11 named after Vladimir Olovnikov in Minsk.

A book exhibition will run during the event. Publications from the collections of the National Library of Belarus and author’s music manuscripts from the Belarusian State Academy of Music will be on display.

Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities

April 18, 2024 marks the 210th anniversary of the birth of Yevstafiy Tyshkevich, a famous archaeologist, historian, ethnographer, local historian and museologist. His research has raised whole layers of the historical past, he was one of the first Belarusian authors of local lore. To mark the anniversary of the scientist, an exhibition "Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities" has been organized in the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus.

Anniversary book exhibition "A Look into Eternity", dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of the Belarusian scientist, literary critic Vladimir Mikhailovich Konon (1934–2011), takes place from April 23 to May 20 in the Belarusian Literature reading room (room 205).

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
