On April 30 the library will host a presentation of the “Belarus Is Country of Sports” exhibition project in the framework of the cultural program of the 2nd European Games.
The event will be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture, "Directorate of the 2nd European Games 2019" foundation and, of course, athletes.
In memory of the large-scale sporting event, visitors will be able to take photos with the mascot of the 2nd European Games, Lesik the Fox.
The exhibition is organized by the National Library of Belarus, the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture.
Belarus is constantly among the twenty strongest sports states in the world participating in the Olympics. The exhibition project will acquaint guests with souvenirs with sports symbols of all-Union and republican competitions, Soviet sports competitions, World and European Championships - from the moment when Belarusian athletes entered the world arena as part of the Soviet national team, and later as part of the national team of Belarus. Visitors to the exhibition will see evidence of high-profile victories of domestic athletes: cups, medals, diplomas, etc.
There will be exposed equipment of well-known representatives of the Belarusian sport: Aliaksandra Herasimenia, Viktor Ugryumov, Natalia Tsylinskaya, Andrey Kravchenko, Dmitri Dashinski, Alexandr Romankov, Vladimir Kaminsky, Alexey Grishin.
At the retrospective photo exhibition, visitors will see rare and little-known photographs of Belarusian athletes, photo chronicles, telling about the 1980 Summer Olympics, the matches of the football tournament which were held in Minsk at the National Olympic Stadium “Dynamo”. At the exhibition paintings by Belarusian artists depicting Belarusian athletes and sports posters from the collections of the National Library of Belarus will be represented.

A book exhibition “Bright Victories, Bright Summer” has been prepared. Its name is related to the slogan of the 2nd European Games “Bright Year, Bright You”. The exposition will present 15 sports included in the program of the 2nd European Games, their basic rules, history and development in Belarus, informational support of each sport in the collections of the National Library of Belarus.
The event will start at 15.00 in the "Atrium" gallery (2nd floor).
