On January 16, in the framework of the republican project On the Waves of Time throughout Life and the Maladnyak Literary Association Day, the Book Museum invites to the opening of the exhibition Maladnyakoskіmі Krokamі.

Maladnyak is the first professional community of writers of the 1920s, its activities significantly influenced the development of the Belarusian literature. The association was established in 1923 as a group of young poets in the magazine of the same name. Maladnyak members believed in their talent and exceptional mission of the creators of this new proletarian literature.

The republican project On the Waves of Time throughout Life (2019–2023) was started on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Maladnyak Literary Association. The initiators of its realization were the National Library of Belarus, the State Museum of the History of the Belarusian Literature, the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art, and The Publishing House Zvyazda (Star) (Maladosts magazine).

The exhibition Maladnyakoskіmі Krokamі was created as part of the republican project and is dedicated to the Maladnyak Literary Association and its members, the writers with the 2019-2020 birth anniversaries - Ales Dudar, Adam Babareko, Valery Moryakov, Pavlyuk Trus, Mikola Khvedorovich, Maxim Luzhanin, Mikhail Lynkov, Zinaida Bondarina.

There are works of the young and creative writers published in the Maladnyak legendary magazine (from the first issue of 1923 to the last 1932) at the exhibition. It is on pages No. 6 of 1925 one can read the program text Maladnyak (Instead of Declaration) by the writers of the first professional community. Documentary collections on the activities of the writers of the association (newsletters of congresses), almanacs and periodicals of republican branches (Uzdym, Maladnyak Barysaўshchyn, Naddzvіnnye, Arshansk Maladnyak, etc.), as well as collections of creators from the series The Maladnyak Book collection. Unique archival documents, photographs, manuscripts of literary works, notes, letters, personal belongings, first publications and collections of poetry and prose will reflect the creative path of the Maladnyak members.

The heritage of the Maladnyak members from the funds of three guardian institutions (the National Library of Belarus, the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art and the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature) is presented for the first time in one exposition.

The exhibition will work in the Book Museum (room 347) until March 16, 2020, daily, except Mondays and public holidays.

Admission is by library card or by the ticket of the library's social and cultural center.

April 18, 2024 marks the 210th anniversary of the birth of Yevstafiy Tyshkevich, a famous archaeologist, historian, ethnographer, local historian and museologist. His research has raised whole layers of the historical past, he was one of the first Belarusian authors of local lore. To mark the anniversary of the scientist, an exhibition "Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities" has been organized in the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus.

A Look into Eternity

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
