The opening of a photo exhibition "Birds of Paliessie" will take place in the "Panarama" Gallery (22nd floor) on May 19 at 5 p.m.

The exhibition has been organized as part of the project "Paliessie – Wildlife Without Boundaries", which aims to preserve the wild environment of one of the largest natural landscapes in Europe.

The organizers of the exhibitions are the National Library of Belarus, the public association “Ahova Ptushak Batskaushchyny”, the Belarusian Wildlife Photographers Club.

The exhibition "Birds of Paliessie" tells about the diversity and richness of the Belarusian nature. The main goal is to draw attention to the unique species of birds, remind the viewer of the beauty of the Belarusian Paliessie, draw attention to the problems of the ecology, species diversity and interest in the modern ecological hobby – birdwatching.

The exhibition is a journey through Paliessie with portraits of Paliessie birds and their habitat. The authors of the works are famous Belarusian photographers Mikalaj Vierabiej, Andrej Sheuchyk, Paviel Lychkouski, Uladzimir Pakalievich, Viktar Kazlouski, Artiom Turlaj, Vasil Fiedasienka and Siarhej Kozak.

When a birdwatcher wants to see a black stork or a great gray owl, to learn to tell apart as many species of birds as possible, to learn about their habits and other features, to admire the unique variety of winged inhabitants of Paliessie, he or she goes on a trip, while a guest of the National Library can ascend to the 22nd floor and visit the exhibition "Birds of Paliessie".

Admission is free for the opening, later the cost coincides with the cost of the Observation Deck tour.

The exhibition will run until the end of August 22.

Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities

April 18, 2024 marks the 210th anniversary of the birth of Yevstafiy Tyshkevich, a famous archaeologist, historian, ethnographer, local historian and museologist. His research has raised whole layers of the historical past, he was one of the first Belarusian authors of local lore. To mark the anniversary of the scientist, an exhibition "Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities" has been organized in the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
