2023 – The Year of Peace and Creation

god-mira.jpgThe President of the Republic of Belarus named 2023 the Year of Peace and Creation in order to unite the Belarusian people and strengthen the principles of peace and creative labour in society as the primary requirements for the development of the Belarusian state. Aleksandr Lukashenko, the head of state, signed Appropriate Decree No. 1 on 1 January 2023.

The Republic of Belarus' Cabinet of Ministers approved the republican action plan for the Year of Peace and Creation by Resolution No. 93 of February 1, 2023.

The National Library of Belarus has organized and conducted a number of scientific, cultural, educational projects and events within the framework of the Year of Peace and Creation.

The publication "Churches of St. Alexander Nevsky in Belarus" was presented on January 8th. The book, which was released in 2022 by the Minsk Theological Seminary's publishing house, is devoted to the 800th birthday of the revered Grand Prince Alexander Nevsky, a statesman and commander.

On 11 January, the book Museum opened the exhibition “In the land of dreams” dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of the Belarusian poet, valued worker of culture of the BSSR Konstantsyia Builo (1893–1986).

On 17 January, the library hosted a creative evening "Wind of the destiny" by the Belarusian writer, valued worker of culture of the Republic of Belarus Naum Galperovich on the occasion of his 75th anniversary.

From 17 January to 30 April, a book and illustrative exhibition dedicated to the laureates of the prize "For Spiritual Revival", the special prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus to cultural and artistic figures, as well as the special prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus "Belarusian Sports Olympus" for 2022 was organized in the ring gallery of the 2nd floor.

On 27 January, as part of the Unified Information Day, Olga Germanovich, Head of the HR and State Awards Department of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, met with the staff of the National Library of Belarus.

From 31 January to 9 April, the Panorama Gallery (22nd floor) will host the "Krasnoborsky krai" photo exhibition.

On 16 February, the National Library hosted a presentation of the documentary publication "The Holocaust in Belarus: Tragedy and Memory".

From February 20 to March 26, the ring gallery of the 3rd floor hosted the exhibition “From the letter to the word. From the word to language”, dedicated to the International Mother Language Day.

Starting from February 21, the library's portal offers a video clip dedicated to the International Mother Language Day.

On 28 February, the grand opening of the exhibition "Fantastic Journey" took place in the atrium of the 2nd floor as part of the annual project "History and Modernity of Book Graphics".

From March 15 to April 6, an exhibition of posters and postcards from the collections of the National Library dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation was organized in the Hall of Art Documents.

From March 21 to May 1, the Labyrinth Gallery (3rd floor) hosted the exhibition "On the Verge of Reality", dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Grigory Mezhuyev.

On March 22–26, the National Library of Belarus will take part in the 30th Minsk International Book Fair “The World of Books without Borders".

On March 31, the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Chisinau hosted the grand opening of the photo exhibition of the National Library of Belarus "Belarus: Wonderful Moments".

The National Library, realizing its special mission in fostering the love of books and reading, conducts a cycle of actions "Present a book – present the world" to donate books to libraries in Belarus.

From June 28 to August 20, the exhibition "My Country" dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus (July 3) is open in the ring gallery of the 2nd floor.

On July 5, the library hosted the opening of the Belarusian-Russian exhibition project "Beauty and Traditions of Folk Costume", dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation in the Republic of Belarus and the Year of Teacher and Mentor in the Russian Federation.

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus is holding a republican contest for the best patriotic cultural project dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation from July 10 to December 30, 2023.

From August 23 to November 12 in the ring gallery of the 2nd floor there is an exhibition "My city, which I am charmed with", dedicated to the City Day.

Within the celebration of the XXX Day of Belarusian Writing (September 2–3, Gorodok, Vitebsk region) The National Library presented the book exhibition "Creators of the Lake Region", dedicated to the famous natives of Vitebsk region.

The X International Congress "Library as a Cultural phenomenon", dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation worked from October 19 to October 20 in the main library of the country.

From October 23 to November 23 the exhibition project "To Touch the Heritage With Soul", dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003).

On November 1, the National Library hosted the grand opening of the exhibition "Notary of Belarus: through the prism of time", dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation. The exhibition works in the Official Documents Service Department (room 207) and the Book Museum (room 347) until November 24, 2023.

On December 19, the National Library hosted a press presentation on "The Humanistic and Creative Potential of Belarusian literature" as part of the Year of Peace and Creation.

On December 20 the employees of the National Library together with representatives of the Belarusian Union of Women, as part of the charity event "Present a book - present the world" in the Year of Peace and Creation,visited the special boarding school No. 10 in Minsk.

On December 21, in continuation of the events dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation, the National Library of Belarus invited the leadership of the Yakub Kolas Nesvizh State College to visit it.

By January 18, 2024 as the result of the campain dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation – a cycle of actions "Present a book – present the world" the funds of 85 libraries of our country were replenished by 38,960 copies of printed editions of works of art by Belarusian and foreign authors, publications on the history, culture and art of Belarus, educational and methodical literature, children's literature.
