From April 23 to May 21, the hall of documents on art (room 306) invites you to visit the exhibition of folk art "Holy Eternal Beauty" and get acquainted with the works of Igor Furs.

Igor Furs was born on May 26, 1965 in Minsk. He became interested in folk crafts as a child, attending a woodcarving circle. The exhibition presents the works of the master, made in the technique of mosaic on wood, the creation of paintings in which includes several complex and painstaking stages - from the selection and preparation of material to fixing the work with a special varnish. Using different types of wood in the work, natural play of color and material pattern of even one species, you can achieve great expressiveness of the image.

Igor Anatolyevich's works are dedicated to Belarusian cult architecture. They depict churches and churches that are located not only in the well-studied, but also the most intimate corners of Belarus: the Transfiguration Church in Zaslavl, the Church of the Corpus Christi in Nesvizh, the Church of Michael the Archangel in the village of Mikhalishki, the Church of the Mother of God Shkaparyarnaya in the village of Idolta and dr.

Particularly valuable for the author is the painting depicting the Holy Ascension Church in the urban village of Luzhesno, Vitebsk Region, since Igor Anatolyevich's great-grandfather, a native of those places, made great efforts to build this temple.

Additionally, there are publications on the folk architecture of Belarus, encyclopedias and practical guides on woodcarving, as well as photo albums and postcards from the funds of the National Library.

The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the library's opening hours.

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
