An exhibition "5+5+5", timed to coincide with the 15th anniversary of the Museum, is on show in the Book Museum on September 9 at 4 pm.

The Book Museum is a significant exhibition space that appeared in the new building of the country's main library in 2006. During its work, it has become a bright trademark of the National Library of Belarus.

As part of the anniversary exhibition "5+5+5", 5 manuscripts, 5 early printed and 5 rare editions will be presented – 15 real rarities from the Library collections, which rarely leave the depository.

The first set includes unique handwritten monuments: from the most ancient to the rarest and most unusual books from the library's collection. You will learn what texts were written on Old Believer scrolls and palm leaves from India.

The second set are old printed books. Each of them is a remarkable specimen for the Belarusian culture. Books of the first printer from Polack, an ancient herbarium of the 15th century from the Radziwills' library, Gospel of the publishing house of the 16th century, and the first edition of a popular military treatise written by our fellow citizen.

The third set of rare books include editions with the dedicatory inscriptions of the Belarusian poet; an artist, a prominent representative of the 20th century avant-garde; miniature illustrated pocket calendar of the 19th century, and a rare art book by a French writer (this year marks the 150th anniversary of his birth) with wonderful watercolours by an expressionist artist. You will find out which collection of Belarusian poetry exists in the world in only one copy.

And you will learn the names of these 15 striking rarities when you visit the exhibition "5+5+5"!

We invite you to join the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Book Museum and take part in the event!

The opening is free.

The exhibition will run in the Book Museum (room 347) until December 31, 2021.
The end date is subject to change.

The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the working hours of the Book Museum.
Admission is by the library card or by the Social and Cultural Centre ticket.
