An exhibition “Growing with Music” is on show in the Music and Audiovisual Documents Reading Room (room 305) from April 1 to 23.

Internal world of a child differs considerably from the internal world of an adult. That’s why, music for children should be not only clear in its structure and simple to perform, but also have a special range of images that every child understands. The music of “children’s albums” by different composers, as a rule, is dedicated to the things children encounter every day: games, toys, fairy-tales, real people and fictional characters. It is made to tell young musicians about good and justice, broaden their horizons, teach to feel deeply and express emotions.

The exhibition presents the visitors with various sheet music collections published in the course of the last 5 years for children of different ages. There are pieces for bayan and accordion, wind instruments, choirs, as well as many interesting publications for piano. Some collections have CD-ROM-supplements: D. Lybin “Birds in the Fog” – pieces for piano; E. Atrashkevich “Singing Together” – for vocals and choir; A. Bezenson “Adventures of Little Dinos” – piano ensembles, etc.
