The theme exhibition "The Future of the Earth: Exploring and Preserving Biodiversity", dedicated to the International day of biological diversity, is open from 5 May to 5 June in the Official documents service department (No 207).
The main task of this Day is to draw public attention to the problem of the irretrievable disappearance of many representatives of flora and fauna on Earth and once again remind the entire world community of the need to take urgent and decisive measures to preserve ecosystems and biodiversity at the international, national and local levels.
The proposed exhibition contains about 100 documents in Russian, English and German. These are books, brochures, periodicals, booklets.

Among the documents presented at the exhibition are materials on international legislation in the field of biodiversity conservation, reports and reviews of the UN and other international organizations, research materials on the study and protection of biodiversity, national reports and assessments of environmental performance in Belarus, literature that provides a lot of interesting information about human-nature relations, conservation challenges biodiversity of endangered species of flora and fauna.
The exhibition includes the following thematic sections:

The exhibition will be of interest to students and postgraduates of environmental, biological and geographical specialties, specialists in the field of nature management and environmental protection, researchers, as well as anyone interested in the problem of preserving the biological diversity of our planet.
The International Day for Biological Diversity was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly on December 20, 2000 (Resolution A/RES/55/201) and is celebrated annually on May 22, the day of the adoption of the agreed text of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
In September 2015, the UN member States adopted the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It includes 17 major Sustainable development goals (SDGs). Stopping the loss of biodiversity and promoting the sustainable use of ecosystems were included in Goal 15.
The problem of preserving biological diversity occupies an important place in the environmental policy of the Republic of Belarus. Our state is aware of the importance of combining international efforts in solving globally significant environmental problems of the world. Belarus ratified the Convention on Biological Diversity in June 1993. Promising priority areas for the implementation of the Convention were identified in the "National Strategy and Action Plan for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity of the Republic of Belarus". The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection and other interested State bodies are constantly working on the areas outlined in the National Strategy.
