The exhibition "The Lyricism of His Music" is on show in the Music and Audiovisual Documents Reading Room (room 305) from November 10 to December 7. The exhibition dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the Belarusian composer, teacher, Honored Art Worker of Belarus Grigory Pukst (1900-1960).

The name of this composer is known thanks to the "Marinka", the first opera for children in Belarus, written on the subject of the poem by "Edi Ognetsvet". But not everyone knows that Grigory Pukst is primarily a lyric composer. The listener will always find deep, sincere feelings expressed by an inspired melody, clear harmony and musical form, which makes it unusually democratic and understandable to everyone in his music. He has written over 150 romances, 6 symphonies, 2 suites on themes of Belarusian folk songs, a number of works for choir and symphony orchestra.

Numerous materials of the exhibition acquaint visitors with the life and work of Grigory Pukst, reflect the uniqueness and diversity of the composer's talent. The processing of various Belarusian folk songs, with which the author began his professional career is very interesting: "What a Month, What a Clear One", " Birch Behind the Mountain", " Magpie Flies", vocal works on verses of Belarusian poets, a waltz from the opera "Marinka", fragments of operas and symphonies.

Grigory Pukst subtly conveys the poetic beauty of the Belarusian nature, the feelings and thoughts of the heroes in his works. This is especially evident in romance art. The exhibition presents "Farewell", "Silk Herbs", "My love  " and other romances of the composer.

Grigory Pukst made a great contribution to the development of national culture, his works have become a worthy part of the national musical heritage.
