On March 26th the II scientific-practical conference of young specialists “The joining of Republican Scientific and Technical Library to the information society: in search of harmony and transformation” was held.

The event was prepared by the Council of young specialists of Republican Scientific and Technical Library (RSTL).  Specialists of the National Library of Belarus, Y. Kolas Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Presidential Library of the Republic of Belarus, I.S. Lupinovich Belarusian Agricultural Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and other libraries participated in the conference.

Young library workers delivered their reports on the modern library activities and issues and trends of the information space development.  

E.N. Stalmakhova, the Chairman of the Council of young specialists of Republican Scientific and Technical Library, told about the Council’s activities.  

I.B. Strelkova, Ed.D, Deputy Director of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts delvered a report “Professional career management: opportunities and prospects for young specialists”.

The conference has become, on the one hand, an event concluding the four-year work of the Council of young specialists of Republican Scientific and Technical Library where young librarians told about their recent achievements, and, on the other hand, it has defined the further ways of development and the role and place of young specialists in librarianship.

Return of the Khraptovich Library

An official opening of the exhibition “The Khraptovich Library: On the Way Back”, was held in the Book Museum on April 15 where unique exhibits have been displayed for the first time: the 19th century correspondence of the Khraptovich family and the books from their famous library in Shchorsy recovered from abroad.
