As part of the anniversary celebrations, on November, 26th, a science and practical conference was held at the Mogilev State Art Museum named after P.V. Maslenikov.


The purpose of the conference is the consolidation of efforts of cultural and education institutions of Mogilev for the development of a uniform intellectual and information space and the assistance in educating an all-round developed, mature and creative person.

The event was arranged by the Centralized System of State Public Libraries of Mogilev, the Mogilev State Art Museum named after P.V. Maslenikov, and the Mogilev State Regional Institute of Education Development.

Representatives of science, culture, education and mass media took part in the conference.

At the opening of the conference Inna Korotkevich, head of the Administration for ideology, culture and youth affairs of the Mogilev state executive committee, and Galina Kravchenko, director of the Centralized System of State Public Libraries of Mogilev made welcoming speeches.

At the conference the National Library of Belarus was represented by head of the Bibliology department Olga Rynkevich who read her report “The role of public libraries in information and cultural context of modern society”. On behalf of the National Library of Belarus, she congratulated the staff of the Mogilev Central City Library named after K. Marx on the library’s anniversary day and presented them the Honorable Diploma of the Ministry of Culture of Belarus. Dir. Galina Kravchenko was awarded the Honorable Diploma of the Belarusian Library Association.

Scientists-researchers and professors of the Mogilev State University named after A. Kuleshov and the Mogilev State Regional Institute of Education Development, and also specialists of the Mogilev Regional Library named after V.I. Lenin, the Centralized System of State Public Libraries of Mogilev, and the Mogilev State Art Museum named after P.V. Maslenikov presented their papers and reports at the conference.

Within the bounds of the event, a video film On the Way to Perfection about the history and development of the Mogilev Central City Library named after K. Marx was shown, and the exhibition “The Mogilev Central City Library named after K. Marx: the age worthy of the history” was presented.

At the end of the event, the conference attendees made an excursion to the Mogilev State Art Museum named after P.V. Maslenikov.

April 18, 2024 marks the 210th anniversary of the birth of Yevstafiy Tyshkevich, a famous archaeologist, historian, ethnographer, local historian and museologist. His research has raised whole layers of the historical past, he was one of the first Belarusian authors of local lore. To mark the anniversary of the scientist, an exhibition "Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities" has been organized in the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus.
