On December 1–3, the director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky participated in the V St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.
The forum, being one of the most authoritative sites, gathered specialists from around the world to discuss a wide range of issues of the development of culture and arts.
On December 1, the Main Building of the Russian National Library hosted a public meeting "Book. Knowledge. Culture: the new role of national libraries in the modern world", at which the issues related to the role and place of national libraries in modern society were discussed.
Roman Motulsky took part in the discussion and presented the report "The 500th anniversary of the Belarusian and East Slavonic book printing: on the eve of the celebration."
An important outcome of the round table was the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the National Library of Belarus and the Russian National Library.
On 2–3 December, an international scientific-practical conference "Reading: a variety of opportunities" dedicated to the problems of reading was held at the forum.
