An opening ceremony of the "5+5+5" exhibition dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Book Museum took place at the Book Museum On September 9.
Mr Alies Susha, Deputy Director General of the National Library of Belarus, made an opening speech. He congratulated everyone on a significant event, the 15th anniversary of the Book Museum, a landmark cultural institution that appeared in the new building of the country's main library in 2006. Mr Alies Susha spoke about the history of the museum and expressed his sincere gratitude to all the initiators and organisers of the museum. He stressed the importance of this special exhibition space for the National Library of Belarus and expressed confidence that the Book Museum will actively develop and surprise visitors with new projects.
Ms Slavina Haurylava, Head of the Museum of Belarusian Printing branch of the National Polack Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, congratulated the colleagues on the anniversary and noted that despite the "adolescent" age the team has carried out many profound and complex projects. She talked about the cooperation and cultural ties that exist between the museums and wished for more interesting exhibitions and initiatives.
Ms Taciana Zakharava, Head of the Museum Section of the Bibliology Research Department, thanked all the initiators and founders of the museum and introduced guests and participants of the event to the anniversary exhibition "5+5+5", which presents 5 manuscripts, 5 early printed books and 5 rare editions - 15 real rarities from the library, which rarely leave the depository.
A performance by Anastasija Nesciareuskaja, a laureate of international contests and recipient of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the Support of Talented Youth, who performed several lyrical works during the exhibition opening, created a beautiful and festive atmosphere.
The exhibition will run in the Book Museum (room 347) until October 24, 2021.
The end date is subject to change.
The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the working hours of the Book Museum.
Admission is by the library card or by the Social and Cultural Centre ticket.
