Belarus President meets creative youth

On 1 December, at the National Library of Belarus took place the meeting of President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko with creative youth.


Young singers and musicians, architects and designers, fashion designers and sculptors took part in the meeting. Practically all of them are grant-aided students and winners of the Special Presidential Fund for Support of Talented Youth. The fund was created 15 years ago and today it supports almost 2 thousand young people.

Besides, the implementation of the state program “Young talents of Belarus” for 2006-2010 has allowed to create conditions for professional advancement of talented young people and to increase their social security. According to it, the measures on the strengthening of social security of talented youth have been taken. In particular, 100 Head of State’s grants for post-graduate students and 200 Head of State’s grants for students are established.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said the State would keep supporting talented young people but marked that in modern society, besides creative ability, initiative, energy and enterprise were required.

Before the meeting which was held in the anteroom of the conference hall of the Library, Head of State visited the exhibition where creative works of young authors were on display: art and sculpture, clothes created by young Belarusian fashion designers, architectural projects, ceramics, works of metal and glass, and literary works.

This is the largest professional forum, the main task of which is to exchange experience and improve the skills of restorers and curators of museum, library and archival collections from different countries.
