On 8–9 October, the first Regional Conference of the Eastern Partnership Culture Programme took place in Tbilisi (Georgia).
The conference gathered representatives of the Eastern Partnership member countries – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine – and concerned parties from the European Union.
The main topics considered at the conference included a strategic role of culture in social, humanitarian and economic progress, as well as ways and methods of its development. The purpose of the programme is the assistance to the EU partner countries in reforming and development of their cultural policy, and also a dialogue between public and private subjects of the countries of region concerning the development of cultural strategy.
During the conference main participants from six countries presented their reports, and some conceptual statements concerning conditions and tendencies of culture in region were maid. Besides, there took place a presentation of 15 projects funded as part of the Eastern Partnership Culture Programme.
Deputy Director of the National Library of Belarus for scientific work and publishing Alexander Susha took part in the conference as a member of the delegation from the Republic of Belarus.
