Dr. Scott Carroll, the researcher of old manuscripts, gave a public lecture on Books before the Printing Press and the Work of Scribes.

Today, many mysteries associated with manuscripts and their creators are a separate interesting issue for scientists. The work of scribes was responsible and physically heavy. For years, a scriber had been involved in the creation of a manuscript on the exact rules. Dr. Scott Carroll has held in his hands and examined thousands of ancient scrolls. On the example of a Torah he demonstrated the tradition of careful attention to protographs, copying all the features and even the manuscript errors. The continuity of transcription preserved the identity of the Old Testament books and the biblical tradition.

Scott Carroll, PhD, is the director of the Manuscript Research Group (USA). He was the curator of the exhibition project "Belarus and the Bible," which was successfully implemented in the past year at the National Library.
