The first excursion from the cycle “Famous Names of Motherland”, dedicated to the life of holy Efrasinia of Polack took place in the Library on 25 February. The students of Minsk State Professional Lyceum No. 7 of Construction became the first visitors.

The excursion was carried out as part of an international online event for reading popularization organized by the Centralized System of Children's Libraries of Yaroslavl. The event is held annually. The National Library and Lyceum No. 7 of Construction participate in it for the second time.

An interactive lesson during which the students were able to enrich their knowledge about the life of Efrasinia of Polack and her great ancestors, descendants of Kiev's Prince Vladimir and Polack Princess Ragneda was part of the excursion. The visitors enjoyed a presentation, thematic puzzles and a quiz, and also a book fair. Children could hold the documents from the collections for the National Library of Belarus, including the books of the 19th – early 20th century: "The life of Saint Efrasinia of Polack", "The Tale of Igor's Campaign" of different years“. Among them are the facsimile of the first edition of 1800 and the earliest translations into Belarusian made by Yanka Kupala: in prose (1919) and in verse (1921) released by the National Library.

We invite you to the excursion, dedicated to Saint Efrasinia of Polack. It is a great opportunity to replenish your knowledge and touch history.
