2017 is a very special year for the Belarusian culture: along with the anniversary of the Belarusian book-printing, we celebrate the 135th anniversary of the birth of Janka Kupala and Jakub Kolas, the outstanding figures of the national culture, the people’s poets of Belarus who stood at the origins of new Belarusian literature.
On the occasion of the dual anniversary the library employees have prepared thematic excursions of the series “Renowned names of the Motherland”.
The first excursion dedicated to Janka Kupala was held on May 16th. The event gathered the 8th-grade students of the gymnasium number 4 in Minsk. The young people familiarized themselves with the building and stocks of the library and found the poet’s books in the e-catalog. Also the students attended an interactive lesson during which they learned more about the Belarusian bard’s life and work, and got to know how some of his writings were created.
The next excursion of the series “Renowned names of the Motherland” will be about Jakub Kolas.
