The 24th General Meeting of the members of the non-profit partnership "Library Assembly of Eurasia" (LAE) was held via video communication on the zoom platform on November 25.
The main goal of the non-profit partnership of libraries of the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is cultural and information-library interaction. The general meeting of the organization is intended to determine priority areas of activity, develop common approaches to problematic issues, approve exchange programs and advanced training for library staff, joint projects, and solve other issues.
At the beginning of the meeting, greetings from the CIS Executive Committee and the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation were addressed to the LAE.
The participants listened to the report of the Directorate on the work done, discussed the current activities of the organization and initiatives for the coming years.
Colleagues shared their views on the preparation of model recommendations for establishing common approaches to the issue of legal deposit in electronic form in the CIS member states, talked about the joint work of libraries to implement projects within the framework of the Year of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, on the participation of specialists from the CIS countries in the 37th World Congress of the International Council for Children's Books (IBBY) in the fall of 2021.
Roman Motulsky, Director General of the National Library of Belarus, made a presentation on the library's cooperation with foreign partners in the implementation of projects dedicated to the Great Victory, noting that the library interacts intensively in the digital environment, which is now actively developing and becoming an effective platform for international cooperation online.
During the discussion and exchange of views at the 24th General Meeting, strategic directions of cooperation between the BAE libraries for 2021-2022 were determined.
The event was attended by a representative of the CIS Executive Committee, heads and employees of libraries parties to the LAE.
