A bright and crowded Day of Belarusian Writing came to an end! The celebration became a real festival of the Belarusian culture, language and literature, where interesting meetings with writers and artists took place, new books were presented, workshops were held and a sea of smiles and positivity showered the place.
The National Library of Belarus took part in the celebration of the XXVII Day of Belarusian Written Language, in Belynichi. Let's recall, what surprises the main library of the country prepared for the guests.
A literary and visual exhibition "Spiritual Treasures of the Belarusian Land" was installed on the site of the Belynichi District Cultural Center. You could see richly illustrated editions from the Library collections: books about the Orthodox and Catholic churches of our country, monuments of sacred painting and the formation of an icon-painting school on Belarusian lands. A separate section of the exhibition - "Zhirovichi Sanctity" - was dedicated to the Zhirovichi Assumption Monastery, where the icon, revered not only by Belarusians, is kept. A part of the “Icons: Research” exhibition contained publications on the phenomenon of icons from the point of view of theology and iconography.
The visitors could also have a look at the best works of the winners of the national contest "Library as ф Hearth of the National Culture". The contest was held among the public libraries of Belarus in order to reveal the creative potential and promote national history, language and culture.
The National Library of Belarus, together with the library, archival and scientific institutions of our country, has been successfully working on a number of virtual and multimedia projects to popularize the history and culture of Belarus. A presentation “Information Treasures of the Belarusian Land. Mogilev Region" was prepared for the festival.
Mr Alexander Susha, Deputy Director General of the National Library of Belarus, presented the finalists of another national contest of book trailers "Book from the Screen" with a special prize - a facsimile edition of the first "Primer" (1618) at the award ceremony.
The Library also donated 70 editions, including fiction, popular science, encyclopaedic literature, to the collections of the state cultural institution “Belynichi Centralized Library Network”.
