The grand opening and plenary session of the 27th International Bibliological Readings took place on April 22.
Mr Raman Matulski, Director General of the National Library of Belarus, Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor, delivered a keynote speech "Saving the book heritage of Belarus as a priority task for the development of the country's library services."
Preservation of historical cultural heritage is one of the most important tasks in the field of culture, determined by the plan of the social and economic development of our country for the current five-year period (2021–2025). The tasks set by the so-called government require the activation of efforts of detecting, returning, preserving and popularizing the book heritage of Belarus, first of all, as a reliable foundation of our statehood, strengthening of civil positions and patriotism of the citizens of the Republic of Belarus.
Various topics were presented in the reports at the plenary session:
- Books on sigillography, numismatology and epigraphy in Radziwill’s book collection;
- Literary features of the “Bible” of Francysk Skaryna;
- Scientific ideas of Laurenci Zizani in the context of his pedagogical work;
- Vetka iconography and ornament in 16th–19th centuries;
- Materials on biography and bibliography of A. Sapunou
- Library of Maksim Bahdanovich dedicated to Belarus studies
- Partisan archive;
- Christian literature book collection
- The role of International Bibliology readings
