The National Library hosted a presentation of the first in the history of Kazakh-Belarusian cooperation literary and artistic almanac "Kazakhstan – Belarus" and a meeting of writers of the two countries took place on June 14.
The organizers of the event are the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus.
The literary collection was published with the assistance of the Embassy on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the countries' independence.
The peculiarity of the publication is that it is trilingual (materials are presented in Kazakh, Belarusian and Russian) and reflects the long-term interstate, literary and cultural cooperation of sovereign Kazakhstan and Belarus in all aspects of historical and cultural continuity. Its sections of translation, prose and poetry contain texts by Kazakh and Belarusian authors, including Abai Kunanbaev, Janka Kupala, Uladzimir Karatkievich, Olzhas Suleimenov, Mikola Miatlitski, Murat Auezov, Nurlan Orazalin, Ales Karliukievich, Ulugbek Esdaulet, Valery Mikhajtajlau, Liubou Shashkova, Sviatlana Ananjeva, Ales Badak. In total, the collection contains works by about 70 authors from two countries.
The collection of the best works of superb artistry published by the writing communities of Kazakhstan and Belarus is a worthy contribution to the preservation of friendly relations between our countries and peoples.
The presentation of the almanac took place offline. From the hall of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Nur-Sultan a meeting of writers was broadcast via Zoom.
Ms Aksana Knizhnikava, Director General of the National Library of Belarus, Mr Askar Beisenbaev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Belarus, Mr Ales Karliukevich, Editor-in-Chief of "Zviazda" Publishing House, literary critic and journalist, Ms Alena Stelmakh, First Deputy Chairperson of the Writers' Union of Belarus, Ms Liubou Shashkova, Deputy Editor-in-chief of "Prostor" journal, compiler of the literary and artistic almanac "Kazakhstan – Belarus", Ms Alena Berazouskaja, Specialist of the Administration of Culture and Folk Art of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, representatives of the creative society, eminent writers and poets attended the event.
As part of the event, guests could enjoy an exhibition-viewing of publications dedicated to the literary ties between the two countries.
