By the 28th Day of Belarusian Written Language, the National Library of Belarus has prepared a number of projects, which were presented on September 4–5 at the Kopyl Regional Centre of Culture.
The book exhibition "Literary Heritage of Kopyl" was open during the event, presenting about 50 lifetime editions by natives of Kopyl and Kopyl land – autographed copies and the most important works, as well as translated literature from the legacy of famous writers. In addition, the online encyclopedia “Belarus in Persons and Events” was presented. Residents of the city and guests of the festival were introduced to full information about the information resource, where you can find credible and useful information about local places, talented and famous fellow citizens: artists, scientists, and sportsmen. The information directly related to the Kopyl region was given special attention. Many writers and cultural figures attended the exhibition and presentation.
A new section of the virtual project “On the Wave of Time, Throughout the Life”, was introduced on September 5. It is a project developed by the National Library of Belarus, the State Museum of the History of the Belarusian Literature, the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art and “Zviazda” publishing house on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the formation of the literary association “Maladnyak” (1923–1928). The results of work on the sections created for the anniversaries of the writers of the "Maladnyak" association were presented on the 28th Day of Belarusian Written Language, including the famous natives of the Kopyl region – Kuzma Chorny and Jan Skryhan.
The partners of the project attended the presentation: Ms Halina Vasilevich, Director of the State Educational Institution "Kamen educational and pedagogical complex kindergarten-secondary school" (Kamen, Kopyl district) and Ms Iryna Tahil – Head of the "Backaushchyna" Museum of History and Local Lore located on the school grounds; and Ms Liudmila Nizhevich, Head of the Literary Museum of Kuzma Chorny. Jan Skrygan's daughter, Halina Skrygan, also attended the presentation and introduced the letter "S" on the Writers' Alley, dedicated to Jan Skrygan and Vasil Stasheuski.
Collaboration with museums to perpetuate the memory of prominent writers Kuzma Chorny and Jan Skrygan continues and the project will be supplemented with new documents.
As part of the celebration of the 28th Day of Belarusian Written Language, the National Library of Belarus donated 110 books to the Kopyl District Central Library named after Anatol Astrejka. These are modern publications, mainly by Belarusian publishing houses of a socio-cultural and socio-political nature, popular science and fiction. Readers of the Kopyl region libraries will have access to works by contemporary authors Iziaslau Katliarou, Siamion Bukchyn, Sophia Shah, and, of course, the classics of Belarusian literature.
