On March 25th, a seminar-training “Content processing and use of authority titles in process of compiling analytic files for the Union electronic catalog LibКАRD” was held.
The library of the Academy of Management under President of the Republic of Belarus hosted the seminar which gathered 60 specialists from 14 libraries – members of LibКАRD Consortium.
The seminar-dialogue was prepared by the National Library of Belarus in cooperation with the Library of the Academy of Management under President of the Republic of Belarus and with the support of the Belarusian Library Association Cataloging Committee.

A report on library cooperation for analytical document description within the framework of LibКАRD Consortium was presented.
Features and perspectives of document indexing and information retrieval with the use of the Universal decimal code were considered.
A particular attention was given to the questions of use of the National database of authority files as an optimum search engine in electronic catalogues of Belarusian libraries. Principles of compilation of authority files for various entities including developed analysis of complex cases of authority control were presented to listeners.
During the seminar-dialogue practical aspects of use of authority titles in the process of cataloging were discussed and problems of formation of search pattern of documents were considered.
Participants suggested ways to develop program-technical baseline of the LibКАRD Union catalog of articles and to improve interaction between libraries – members of the consortium.
