The 25th General Meeting of the members of the Library Assembly of Eurasia voluntary organization was held in the format of a videoconference on December 3.
Heads of national and state libraries of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, a representative of the Permanent Commission of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly for Culture, Information, Tourism, and Sports participated in the meeting.
Ms. Aksana Knizhnikava, Director General of the National Library of Belarus, took part in the meeting on behalf of our country.
The general meeting discussed the current activities of the Assembly, personnel issues and the implementation of joint initiatives in the coming years. In order to develop a common cultural and scientific space of libraries of the CIS countries colleagues discussed joint research activities, the development of national bibliography, joint work to improve the skills of specialists, etc.
One of the issues on the agenda of the meeting was the elections to the Assembly board for December 2021 – December 2025. Mr Vadim Duda, Director General of the Russian State Library, was elected President of the Library Assembly of Eurasia, and Ms Anna Chulyan, Director of the National Library of Armenia, was elected Vice-President. The National Library of Belarus was elected as the venue for the 26th General Meeting of the Library Assembly of Eurasia Members in 2022.
