A solemn award presentation for the winners of the Republican contest "Peace in the Soul - Peace in the Country" in the category "The Verse" took place on September 28 at the National Library of Belarus as part of the artistic endeavour "The Happiness is to Live in a Peaceful Country!"
In Belarus, the end of September is a noteworthy time. Three notable occasions occur during this time: National Unity Day (September 17), the Republic of Belarus' Day of Peace (the third Tuesday in September), and the International Day of Peace (September 21). The fact that the republican contest winners were announced in conjunction with these dates is symbolic.
Representatives of the legislature, executive branch, ministries of the Republic of Belarus, foreign diplomatic missions, public associations, leaders of major religious groups, well-known authors and poets, and members of the media all attended the event. The eminent visitors performed readings of chosen poems and gave special presents. Lyubov Leshchinskaya's piece "My nation - My people" was read aloud by National Library of Belarus General Director Aksana Knizhnikava, who also gave the author a special prize in the form of the album "National Library of Belarus. 100 years.".
The chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Peace Foundation, Maksim Misko, presented the trilogy of books titled "The country of peace. Verses”, “The country of peace. Prose”, “The churches of the country. Illustrations” as part of the award ceremony. Publications including the greatest writing from the Republican contest's winners, "Peace in the Soul - Peace in the Country," will be a priceless addition to the main library's holdings.
The competition's winners and laureates were given a tour of the "diamond of knowledge," where they were introduced to the structure's architecture and artistic design, educated about the National Library's century-long history, toured the book museum, and ascended to the observation deck.
The public organisation "Belarusian Peace Foundation" has been holding the republican competition "Peace in the Soul - Peace in the Country" from 2018. It is sponsored this year by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Belarusian Orthodox Church of the Republic of Belarus with the intention of fostering friendship and social harmony among students of the Republic of Belarus and the dissemination of spiritual, moral, national, and cultural values.
