On December 18, the Director of the National Library of Belarus, Roman Motulsky, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Turkey, visited the Presidential Library of Turkey to promote Belarusian-Turkish cooperation in the humanitarian sphere.
The Presidential Library, which officially opened on October 20, is built inside the presidential complex located in the Bestepe district of Ankara. The library will open up its doors to the general public in 2020. Here are books not only about the culture, science, art and philosophy of Turkey, but also there are the main works of the world's leading cultures and civilizations. The library will become a kind of "window" of Turkey into the world.
During the meeting with the President of the Library, Ayhan Tuglu, Roman Motulsky spoke about the book culture of our country and the importance of the maintenance of the cultural values, he also told about the publishing projects of the National Library of Belarus by the way of the facsimile reproduction of the valuable book monuments of Belarus. Roman Motulsky presented the facsimile editions of the Book Heritage of Francysk Skaryna and the Primer, as well as a copy of the Tatar Kitab from the collections of the National Library of Belarus as a gift to the Turkish side.
The library's collection has also been supplemented with a set of books as a part of the Belarus Today Project.
The Presidential Library of Turkey has become the 23rd institution that received a gift from the Diamond of Knowledge, the edition, that fully reflects the socio-economic and political life of our country, its centuries-old history and culture.
On the same day, Roman Motulsky visited the National Library of Turkey. The interaction between the two libraries has begun in 2010 with the signing of the Cooperation Agreement. In 2018, the Memorandum of Understanding, which corresponded to the modern needs of the two libraries, was signed. During the meeting with the Head of the Library, Hamdi Turshuju, the prospects for developing cooperation in the field of library science, joint scientific projects and research were discussed.
