On February 10, within the framework of the Library Day and the XVIII Minsk International Book Fair a round table session “The role of educational institutions, publishing houses and libraries in reading development” takes place at the National Library of Belarus.
The event organizers are the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus.
Representatives of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Communication and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Commerce of the Republic of Belarus, the national postal service “Belpochta”, scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, heads and specialists of publishing houses and bookseller organizations, writers, directors and employees of libraries participate in the event.
During the round table session participants will consider and summarize the experience of the basic organizations involved in reading maintenance and development (educational institutions, libraries, publishing houses, bookseller organizations), and also will examine the questions concerning their professional communication and social partnership development.
The urgent issues of interaction between the aforesaid and other institutions within the framework of the system “writer-reader-library” are to be discussed.
The round table agenda:
- legal information distribution;
- copyright and related rights;
- study of reading including children’s and teenage literature;
- publication and promotion of Belarusian literature;
- compiling of socially important editions lists;
- periodicals subscription and distribution;
- publication, distribution and registration of electronic books;
- acquisition of electronic editions and audio books, and also editions for physically impaired people for library stacks.
