On 8 April, within the framework of a working visit to the Republic of Belarus, Vice-President of the Republic of Zimbabwe John Nkomo visited the National Library of Belarus.


Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky welcomed the guest. During a panoramic excursion Mr. Nkomo learned about the Library’s activities, its equipment, information resources, architectural features and interior design. Then the guest visited the indoor observation platform to see the bird’s-eye view of Minsk and the suburb.

At the Book Museum the distinguished guest viewed the collection of rare editions from the Library’s stock. Vice-President of the Republic of Zimbabwe John Nkomo wrote an entry to the Guests’ of Honor Book.

On April 8-12 the VII International Scientific and Practical Seminar "Document Restoration: Conservatism and Innovation - 2024" was held at the Russian State Library. This is the largest professional forum, the main task of which is to exchange experience and improve the skills of restorers and curators of museum, library and archival collections from different countries.

April 18, 2024 marks the 210th anniversary of the birth of Yevstafiy Tyshkevich, a famous archaeologist, historian, ethnographer, local historian and museologist. His research has raised whole layers of the historical past, he was one of the first Belarusian authors of local lore. To mark the anniversary of the scientist, an exhibition "Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities" has been organized in the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
