On June 10st, 2022, the 10th International Scientific and Practical Conference "Electronic Culture" takes place at the National Library of Belarus. It is devoted to the 100th anniversary of the National Library of Belarus, and the main theme of it is “Digital Collections in the Space of Culture”.

Organizers of the event are The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and The National Library of Belarus.

The scientific and practical conference "Electronic Culture" annually becomes the most important platform for the exchange of experience and search for prospective directions for the development of information technologies in the field of culture.

Conference participants – scientists, specialists in the field of culture, science and education, software developers and anyone who is interested in humanitarian matters. It is planned to discuss the impact of information technology on the development of society, innovative projects and their practical realization in the electronic environment in order to popularize the historical and cultural heritage and integration of the information potential of different countries into the global information and cultural space. Special attention this year is planned to be paid to digital collections in the space of culture – their creation, promotion, copyright and open access matters.

The following topics are suggested for discussion:

  • institutions of culture, science and education in the context of informatization: changing the status and functions, cooperation, expansion and virtualization of services;
  • preservation and popularization of historical and cultural heritage: problems and results of the formation of electronic content, implementation of information technologies, access, restoration etc.;
  • innovative technologies in the field of culture: "cloud", mobile, 3D technologies, Internet of Things, augmented reality; economy of impressions/emotions and etc.;
  • organization and holding of educational and socio-cultural events, including using the resources of libraries, museums and archives;
  • other.

Representatives of government authorities, heads and specialists of libraries, museums, archives, scientific research organizations, educational institutions, developers and suppliers of software and electronic resources are invited.

The venue of the conference is the National Library of Belarus, Minsk, Niezaležnasci Ave, 116, room 307.

Considering the epidemiological situation, the conference will be held in a hybrid mode, i.e., it will be held simultaneously in face-to-face form as well as online form.

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
