Nina Batura was born on February 18, 1936 in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg). Her father was a military man, so the family often changed their place of residence. This had a definite impact on Nina's school biography. The girl entered the first grade in her hometown, then studied in several schools in different Soviet republics, including in the BSSR, in the village of Rossony, Grodno region. Despite the frequent change of educational institutions, she graduated from school with honors. In 1955, young Nina entered the Library Faculty of the Minsk State Pedagogical Institute named after M. Gorky. She also graduated from a higher educational institution with honors and was assigned to work in the State Library of the BSSR named after V.I. Lenin (now - the National Library of Belarus).

The girl began her professional career in the library on August 1, 1959 as a librarian. Two years later, Nina Batura was transferred to the position of bibliographer, and six months later she became senior bibliographer. For her high professionalism, discipline and hard work in 1966 she was appointed head of the scientific hall of technical sciences of the service department, where she worked for 24 years, until her retirement in 1990.

From the memoirs of colleagues: “She was a responsible, conscientious and very pedantic specialist: she always had an “army” order in her hall, despite the huge number of visitors. All books on the shelves had to be exactly "under the ruler". She fulfilled every request of visitors accurately, quickly and on time. Nina Batura was an example of attitude to the assigned work, was a kind and wise mentor for young specialists generously shared her experience with them. She enjoyed great authority and respect in the team, knew how to find an approach to any person, be it a colleague or a reader. There was a kind word or useful advice for everyone”.

Nina Batura was very responsible for her professional duties. In order to even more accurately and qualitatively meet the needs of the readers of the technical literature hall, she graduated from three two-year faculties of the City Public Technical University at the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information and Propaganda under the State Planning Committee of the BSSR.

In addition to her excellent professional qualities and active participation in the public life of the library, Nina Batura's colleagues also noted her human qualities. They remember with warmth and love: “Nina Semyonovna was a kind of soft, sincere, very intelligent, well-read, sensitive, erudite and extremely tactful woman ... She had a very good family, she loved to tinker in the garden, she just loved to cook. I remembered us for her signature dish of Kazakh cuisine "chak-chak", which she often treated us to. Nina Batura read a lot, she was a passionate lover of Scandinavian literature. She is remembered as a hardworking colleague, a just boss and a kind person".

Unfortunately, Nina passed away very early, soon after retirement...
