This permanent thematic section will be opened on our portal starting on May 22. The information on the main significant events and outstanding figures of national history and culture will be presented there.
The Belarusian past holds many heroic and tragic events, interesting and sometimes contradictory facts. There were a lot of people who glorified their homeland in various spheres of public life on Belarusian land. The facts were recorded in historical sources, visible on maps and images, interpreted in various publications and memoirs.
We propose to explore some events of the past of our country, famous compatriots and use a wide range of information resources about them with our new section. These will be short thematic links (sometimes with photographs and images, fragments of historical sources), as well as links to various information resources of the National Library of Belarus. The main library of the country keeps the world's largest collection of the Belarusian national documents and for almost 100 years focuses its analytical and informational activities on the Belarusian researches. Bibliographic and factual printed materials, databases and multimedia publications, thematic virtual projects and digital collections of the National Library of Belarus reveal various aspects of the history and culture of Belarus.
We hope that the section “Through the Pages of the Belarusian Calendar” will be interesting to lovers of national history, scientists, students and teachers, as well as to everyone who appreciates the Belarusian culture and national heritage. Materials will be regularly published in the news feed of the National Library of Belarus portal and will be stored in a separate section of the "Belarus in the Information Space" web site.
