It has been two years since the National Library of Belarus launched a project dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the “Maladnyak” Literary Association.

New information about “Maladnyak” writers continues to be added to the virtual resource “On the Wave of Time, Throughout the Life”. For example, a new section dedicated to Vladimir Khodyko has been created, while the sections dedicated to the anniversaries of Vladimir Dubovka, Kuzma Chorny and Yanka Skrygan are on the way. Other institutions, including the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature, the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art, the Maładosć Journal, new authors and researchers of the history of the 1920-1930s literature are joining the project.

The resource "On the Wave of Time, Throughout the Life" is constantly replenished with books, full-text documents, photographs and materials found in personal archives of researchers. We are launching a series of publications about new interesting project events.

In the subsection "Literary and Documentary Publications of the "Maladnyak" Association" there is a curious publication titled "Bliskavitsy: Anthology of Belarusan Women Poetry of the Interwar Period" (2017), compiled by Ms Oksana Danilchik and Mr Viktor Zhibul. For the first time, pieces by 61 Belarusian poetesses written during the interwar period of 1918 to 1941 are collected under one cover. This draws a perspective of the literary life of the era.

“Today no one will question whether women's poetry should be analyzed. It is a resolved issue and the starting point for taking another step forward – to explore what women have created, to identify the main trends in their poetry, its transformation in specific historical periods and, possibly, to determine further development prospects, as well as to get rid of the stereotypes associated with the use of the word "woman". Besides, there's still little demand for a whole layer of Belarusian literature, and there's hope we could fill the gap... The anthology of Belarusian women's poetry of the interwar period will help to look differently at the literary process of the 20-30s and the women's role in it... Today, the goal is to return Belarusian women's poetry of the 20-30s from “nonexistence” in order to restore historical and artistic justice,” said Mr Oksana Danilchik, candidate of philological sciences, in the introduction to the “Bliskavitsy”.

The author of these lines joined our project and took an active part in the round table "Maladnyakoskіmі Krokamі", held on January 16, 2020 at the Library. Ms Danilchik analyzes the works of Zinaida Bandarina, a poetess of "Maladnyak", whose poems are included in the "Bliskavitsy" Anthology. Apart from that, she also studies the works of Ya. Pushcha, K. Chorny, S. Dorozhny, N. Belina-Podgaetsky, E. Pflaumbaum, P. Buzuk, cultural issues (the activities of A. Babareko, V. Dubovka, T. Klyashtorny, etc.), the Italian context of Belarusian literature of the interwar period.

The researcher made a presentation “Poetry and Fate of "Maladnyak” Zinaida Bandaryna” at the meeting as part of the “Maladnyak” Literary Association Day, and her article "'Personal File'" of Zinaida Bandaryna and other Materials for Biography" was published in the "Maładosć" Journal No. 1 for 2020 under the project “On the Wave of Time, Throughout the Life”. Ms Danilchik's new material about the work of Z. Bandarina is being published in "Maładosć" No. 5. The researcher, poetess and translator remains an active participant and member of the national project.

We invite you to join the project “On the Wave of Time, Throughout the Life”, which provides an opportunity to popularize the activities of the “Maladnyak” Literary Association and your research findings through the National Library of Belarus website!
