The manuscripts and rare editions of Yakub Kolas in the Book Museum

Visitors of the museum can see the verses written by the poet’s hand in the beginning of the 20th century.

The printed books are represented by the first collection of Y. Kolas’ verses “Песні-жальбы” (“The Lamentation Songs”) published in Vilno in 1910. The Saint Petersburg editions of the association “Загляне сонца і ў наша аконца» are represented by Y. Kolas’ schoolbook “Другое чытанне для дзетак беларусаў” (“The Second Reading for Children of Belarusians”) (1909), and also the short story in verse “Батрак. Як Юрка збагацеў” (“The Day Laborer”) (1913).

The rare editions are represented by the book translated into Polish “У Палескай глушы” (“In the Backwoods of Polesie”) (Warsaw, 1950) whose title-page features the dedicatory inscription: “To the Lenin State Library. Yakub Kolas. 31.XII.1953”.
