"We remember your pain and losses, Belarus ..."

An excursion from the cycle "Outstanding People of the Motherland" on the works of the period of the Great Patriotic War by A. Kuliashou, M. Tank, P. Panchanka and military literature by I. Shamiakin is designed primarily for pupils and students, as well as everyone who is interested in the history of our Motherland.

During the excursion, visitors learn the architectural features of the building of the National Library of Belarus, its information resources and services, explore the principle of the electronic catalogue using the example of the search for the famous writers.

A part of the excursion takes the form of an interactive lesson, during which a presentation is shown that tells about the Great Patriotic War, a tragic page of our history. Excursionists learn about the life and work of P. Panchanka, A. Kuliashou, M. Tank, I. Shamiakin, see unique documents from the collections of the National Library of Belarus related to the Great Patriotic War, take part in a quiz. An animated film "Spoon for a Soldier" based on the story "Wooden Spoon" by Janka Maur is shown to young visitors.
