“A Wonder in the Palms of Eternity” an exhibition timed to the 70th anniversary of the Belarusian writer, translator and public figure, Anatoly Butevich, runs in the Belarusian literature reading room (205), from June 8 to July 8.

He is known as a competent researcher of national history and permanent participant of the international research and educational expedition “The Road to the Shrines”. As a person with wide interests, Anatoly Butevich is also a frequent visitor to theatrical and cinema premieres, vernissages and other cultural events.

The writing of Anatoly Butevich is a great asset of Belarusian literature of the late 20th – early 21st centuries. The main theme of his books is the historical past of the native land. The novelist himself is convinced that "virtually every place of our Belarus is rich in unique and meaningful persons, exciting events and unusual occurrences." Since childhood, the writer discovered his "road to the shrines" – the way to studying the secrets of the famous noble families and their castles in Belarus.

Anatoly Butevich is the author of numerous books of historical prose and historical and documentary literature. His long-term study of Belarusian history has resulted in a series “Seven Wonders of Belarus”, founded in 1999. Visitors of the exhibition will also be interested in artistically designed books “On a Visit to Eternity”, “The Bells of Nemiga”, “The Age-Old Call of the Motherland” etc.

The historical theme is heard in romances, "The Queen Did Not Betray the King ..." and "Between the Principality and the Crown. From Krevo to Krakow", where the author shows a world of mysterious intrigues and customs of the royal court, and political struggle that was going on around the throne.

Anatoly Butevich also writes for children. The collections of his fairytales are on display.

Anatoly Butevich’s literary translations from Russian, Polish, English and other languages are presented separately. The exhibition includes Sholom Aleichem’s "Tevye the Dairyman” (from Yiddish), J. Aldridge’s "Hunter" (from English) and others books translated into the Belarusian language.

The last exhibition section is about the writer’s life and career.

The opening hours of the exhibition corresponds to the library’s opening hours.

Entrance to the exhibition is available by the library ticket or ticket of the library's social and cultural center.
