The book-illustrative exhibition, "Anatomy of Design", is on show in the Fine Arts Reading Room (room 306) from October 2 to November 24.

The world of objects created by hands and human genius is amazing. It contains the memory of history and culture, the fate of peoples, their dreams, hopes, achievements. Design is a part of our daily life and an important part of the culture of our society. It is he who determines what things surround us and how we coexist with them.

The exposition helps to understand the logic of design development, to feel the complexity of the designer's relationship with society and the world, to understand the cause-and-effect relationship of making certain design decisions. The theoretical materials are complemented by creative assignments and examples from the world's leading designers, which helps to master new ways of creative thinking, hone skills and help cope with a project. The most effective methods of creating high-quality design works are proposed, which no modern designer can do without.

The exhibition acquaints visitors with the author's concepts reflecting current trends and prospects for the development of modern graphic design. Special emphasis is placed on training specialists to work in an electronic environment - new technologies for creating visual, media and graphic products are being considered. The magazine “Novum” presented in this section will arouse keen interest, the covers of editions of which I would like not only to look at but also to touch.

The books of the publishing house of the famous studio of Artemy Lebedev are unusually in demand and relevant. The exhibition demonstrates publications of world-famous authors: “Modular Systems in Graphic Design” by Joseph Müller-Brockmann, “Art of the Designer” by Paul Rand, “New Typography” by Jan Tschichold and many others.

A separate section is devoted to research on the history of the interior, from the Ancient World to the design directions of the twentieth century and the present. The section includes famous interior and architecture magazines Schöner Wohnen, Maison française magazine, Architectural Digest, Domus, AIT, Der Baumeister, Architectural design, Project International and others.

Each design project is a small model of the world. The more diverse the sources, the more visual information can be conveyed by the design. The editions presented at the exhibition are lavishly illustrated and will serve as an invaluable source of information and inspiration for designers, graphic designers and researchers of the history of visual arts.

The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the library’s opening hours.

Admission is by library card or by the ticket of the library's social and cultural centre.
