On June 23rd at the art gallery “Panorama” took place the opening ceremony of a photo exhibition “America in the eyes of the Belarusians”.
This is a joint project of the USA Embassy in the Republic of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus. The exhibition represents more than 70 photos made by winners and participants of the contest “My America” which run by the USA Embassy in the Republic of Belarus at the beginning of the year.
The photographs taken by Belarusian amateur and professional photographers reflect the culture and traditions of the USA, the beauty of nature, American architecture and sights, and also funny incidents captured by the camera.
Lyudmila Kiryukhina, the Deputy Director for Research and PR of the National Library of Belarus, and Mr. Michael Scanlan, the Charge D’affaires of the USA Embassy in the Republic of Belarus, opened the exhibition. Vladimir Parfenok, photographer and chairman of the judging panel of the contest “My America” took part in the event. The award ceremony was held by Orly Keiner, the Assistant Attaché for Information, Education and Culture.
Mr. Michael Scanlan presented to the National Library of Belarus the annual subscription to five American journals on modern art and architecture in the USA, and also a set of albums dedicated to American nature, cities and people. In return, Lyudmila Kiryukhina presented a souvenir to Mr. Scanlan.
The exhibition runs up to July 5th in the gallery “Panorama” (the indoor observation platform on the 22nd floor). Entrance to the Observation platform is paid, including the cost of the exhibition.
