On April 24, 2008, at 17.00, at the conference-hall of the National Library of Belarus took place the opening of the 1st Minsk International Graphics Exhibition “Art-Line”.


At the exhibition are displayed over 160 graphics by artists from Austria, Italy, Germany, Armenia, Serbia, Ukraine, Russia, Poland, and Estonia, among them – works by the eminent Italian artist Carla Accardi.

Within the framework of the event a contest was held. The International Jury members were artists and art critics from Serbia, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Belarus, and Italy.

During the event there were performances by the Republic of Belarus Gymnastics National Team, and also winners of European Championship, international and national contests, masters of sports, and musicians.

The exhibition is open until June 5, 2008.

We remember the great heroic deed

On May 7, on the eve of Victory Day, the staff of the National Library of Belarus laid flowers at the monument "Grieving Mother" in the Chelyuskintsev Park of Culture and Recreation. During the war of 1941-1943, thousands of dead soldiers, shot residents, as well as those who died during the difficult war years from hunger and disease found their last refuge here in mass graves.

We honour and remember!

On the eve of May 9 and in the year of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders, library staff carried out restoration and cleaning of the graves of employees who worked in the library in the pre-war and post-war periods.
