A jubilee book and illustrative exhibition to the 30th anniversary of the Belarusian Fund of Culture is organized in the Library.


The Belarusian Fund of Culture is a freewill non-governmental organization created in Minsk in 1987 at the constituent conference of the Belarusian republican department of the Soviet Fund of Culture.

Its founders were the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Enlightenment, the Ministry of Higher and Special Education, many state committees, all creative Belarusian unions, other non-governmental organizations. The Council of Ministers of BSSR adopted a special regulation No. 123 “On Belarusian republican department of the Soviet Fund of Culture” on May 12, 1988.

The Fund has been a socially active organization that unites national intelligence under the guidance of the national Belarusian writer Ivan Chigrinov for almost 10 years.

The Fund assisted in creation of such organizations, as the society of Belarusian language, regional society, unions of Belarusian national masters, folklorists and other specialists, worked out and carries out a long-term program “Спадчына”. Its name the Belarusian Fund of Culture (BFC) got in 1992. Now it’s headed by Vladimir Gilep, who is the chief editor of the newspaper Краязнаўчая газета.

The exhibition reflects the fund’s publishing activities – art, regional studies and bio literature, periodicals, etc.

Editions of the magazine Спадчына and Краязнаўчая газета, Статут Савецкага фонду культуры and also little-known documents about the BFC activities provided by the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus.

The Belarusian Fund of Culture along with the National Library and several state institutions prepared a couple of collections of works Вяртанне that contain documents and archive materials on the issues of search and return of national valuables outside Belarus. Besides archive documents, pictures, sacred pictures, the list of valuables includes the whole libraries, parts of funds, sets of Belarusian periodicals, handwritten funds of Belarusian writers and poets, ancient books and manuscripts.

Visitors of the exhibition can find editions of the Belarusian Fund of Culture that received awards in the contest “Мастацтва кнігі” – Adam Mickiewicz’s poems Pan Tadeusz (1998) in Polish, Belarusian and Russian, Evgeny Onegin by Alexander Pushkin (1999) in Russian and Belarusian, New Land by Yakub Kolas (2002) in Belarusian, Polish and Russian, and also Vladimir Korotkevich’s novel King Stakh’s Wild Hunt (2010) in Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian and English and multi-language editions of Maxim Bogdanovich’s poems Slutsk Weavers, Romance, Pursuit (2011) with A. Kashkurevich’s, V. Sharangovich’s, Y. Yakovenko’s, Y. Khilko’s illustrations.

The exhibition is on the 2nd floor of the circular corridor since April 20.

"On the paths of bright spring" by Pavlyuk Trus

On May 16, participants of the National Library of Belarus project "On the wave of time throughout life" visited the Uzden Central District Library named after Pavlyuk Trus, where they took part in the literary and musical festival "On the paths of bright spring.." dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of the poet, member of the association "Maladnyak", native of Uzden region Pavlyuk Trus (1904-1929).
