A book exhibition “A many-sided talent” timed to the 70th anniversary of Belarusian writer Leonid Zuborev runs on 6–30 November in the Belarusian literature reading room (room 205).
The reader knows Leonid Zuborev as the author of fiction and documentary stories, novels, poems and verses, children’s books and translations. The author writes in Russian, English and Belarusian languages. The writer gren in Minsk, and since 1990 he has been living in the USA.
Writer and Doctor of Philology Vladimir Gnilomyodov wrote about popular literature: “For me, the example of good mass literature is books by Belarusian writer L. Zuborev Zmitrok Byadulya – the Belarusian Jew (2006) and The Lovers of Maxim Gorky (2008). They are fascinating enough and even sensational and interesting to read”.
Our visitors will see Leonid Zuborev’s books dedicated to Maxim Bogdanovich in Belarusian (1989) and Russian (2004). The writer’s literary career began with admiration of this classic of Belarusian literature. The books feature unpublished archival papers about life of the Bogdanovichs family and their familiar and friendly relations with the Peshkovs. A book about friendship of Maxim Bogdanovich and Maxim Gorky The Cry of Petrel (1989), essays on the history and culture of the Jews in Belarus The Belarusian Jews (2003), documentary stories The prophesy of Kazinets (2008) amd Requital (2008), a novel A Bomb for Russia (2009) are on display.
A particular exhibition section presents books of well-known fairy tales Fairy Tales and Legends (2010) and Fairy Tales (2011) translated by Leonid Zuborev in verses.
