Book exhibition All Elements

Other news

From January 30, 2008, to March 2, 2008, in the National Library of Belarus is open a book exhibition “All Elements”.

The Nature generously endowed humanity with everything they need. Humanity is adapted, in their own way, to its conditions and even caprices. It seems that we know the Earth inside out. We exploit natural resources, explore ocean depths, and began exploring space. However natural forces are sill not under human’s control. The restless Earth is stronger than we are. Tragic situations happen when human can make nothing to survive. Elements rule our planet, and we are still weak in the face of them.

Elements of the Earth are the subject of the exhibition. There are displayed scientific data on water, air, earth, and fire: floods and tornados, sand-storms and convulsions of nature, avalanches and tsunami, mirages and meteorites, geysers, earthquakes and so on.

The exhibition acquaints visitors with natural forces which are still unknown and subdued; immense cataclysms and man-caused catastrophes; interesting discoveries; record manifestations of elements (often tragic, but sometimes curious), and the future of humanity forecast.

The exhibition totals over 100 materials: popular scientific literature, book series “100 Greatest Persons”, encyclopedias, reference books, guide books on mysterious and sacred places of the Earth, monographs dedicated to global climate change, research of anomalous nature phenomena etc.

The exhibition acquaints visitors with interesting books “Natural Forces and Rules” by A. Lamp (1898), the physicist and docent of Vienna University, and “Volcanoes and Earthquakes” by M.Neumar (1902), the German professor.

The exhibition is located in the circular passage (second floor, by the gallery “Rakurs”).
