From March 23rd to April 25th, the exhibition devoted to the 80th anniversary of the song Byvajcie zdarovy! runs in the Music and audiovisual documents reading room (No. 305).
Quiet, serene, dance, lyrical – today this song with an eighty-year history is know to everyone, both young and old. Probably, there is no corner of Belarus where it has not performed, leaving no one indifferent.
Byvajcie zdarovy! is a people’s hit and the gem in the repertoire of singers Leonid Utesov, Larisa Aleksandrovskaya. Iosif Kobzon, Yakov Naumenko, Nadezhda Mikelich and the band Pesnjary.
During the Great Patriotic War, the song was performed on the fronts, playing an important role in mobilizing spiritual forces of our nation. The lyrics had a variety of variants: it was composed by front-line soldiers, partisans and civilian population.
The offered exhibition presents printed music and audio records of the song performed by various artists. The exposition includes thematic sections about the work of its authors – the poet Adam Rusak and the composer Isaac Liuban.
Isaac Liuban (1906–1975) is a creator of the genre of “a mass song”, democratic by its image and musical language. He created a huge number of songs, most of which are characterized by clarity and simplicity of the melodic, dance musical basis and connection with folklore. On March 23rd it is the 110th anniversary of the composer’s birth.
Adam Rusak (1904–1987) is a prominent poet-lyricist and musician. Is poetry is remarkable for melodiousness, sincere lyricism, good-natured people’s humor. The well-known composers have created a lot of songs based on his verses. The songs Tolki z taboju, Nie za vočy čornyja, Dzie ty, zorka maja, Nie šukaj, Liasnaja piesnia and others are translated into many languages and performed not only in Belarus, but abroad as well.
