18 April marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Eustachy Tyszkiewicz, a famous Belarusian archeologist, historian, ethnographer, a specialist in local lore and museums. An exhibition "Man who loves his country" to the anniversary of the scientist is organized in the Book Museum.
The count Eustachy Tyszkiewicz was born in Logoisk. He belonged to the famous Tyszkiewicz family. Eustace Tyszkiewicz is one of the founders of the Logoisk Museum of Antiquities (1842–1855), founder of the Vilna Museum of Antiquities (1855) and the Vilna Archaeological Commission. In addition, he is the author of books and articles on archeology and ethnography. Along with scientific papers he wrote several stories.
The exhibition presents Eustache Tyszkiewicz’s lifetime editions on history, ethnography, archeology, and materials on the activities of the Vilna Museum of Antiquities and the Vilna Archaeological Commission, as well as books with his autographs.
