The jubilee book exhibition "Penetrating into the secrets of creativity”, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of literary critic, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vasily Borisenko (1904–1984), takes place from April 25 to June 23 in the Belarusian Literature reading room (room 205).
Vasily Borisenko is a recognized authority in the field of literary criticism and criticism. His scientific interests, deep interest in the work of Belarusian writers, and passion for literary criticism were organically combined with each other. For those who are interested in literary work, his research and critical works have become real reference books.
In the first section of the exhibition "Ways of development of Belarusian literary criticism and criticism”, the visitors will see literary works by V. Borisenko: “Frantishek Bogushevich and the problem of realism in Belarusian literature of the XIX century”, “The role of Russian classical literature in the development of realism of Belarusian literature of the early XX century” (co-authored with V. V. Ivashin), textbooks “Belarusian literature”, anthologies for schools, educational institutions, etc.
Vasily Vasilyevich also studied the creative connections of Belarusian, Russian and Ukrainian literature. The visitors of the exhibition will be presented with his translation from Russian into Belarusian of the book by E. V. Tarley “Mikhail Kutuzov" (1942).
The academician worked fruitfully in the field of textual studies, the study and publication of archival materials, scientific commentary and publication of works by Belarusian writers. For example, the section “With respect to the word” contains No. 3-5 scientific studies entitled “Belarusian Literature” (1960, 1961, 1963), the two-volume “History of Belarusian Soviet Literature” (1964–1966), in which he was the editor together with V. V. Ivashin, as well as “Belarusian Soviet Prose", “the writer's style”, which he edited together with P. K. Dzyubail.
The section "Depth and scale" contains books and periodicals about the life and work of the hero of the day.
The exposition is complemented by publications with introductory articles, prefaces, afterwords to a number of collections of works by classics of Belarusian literature Ya. Kolas, Ya. Kupala, Z. Byadulya, M. Bogdanovich, K. Chorny, etc.
