From January 4th, 2010, to February 28th, 2010, in the Periodicals reading room (room 106) is open a subject exhibition “The beauty of Belarusian towns”.
A town... Its history, life, and cultural heritage... Each corner of the Earth has its particular attraction. The offered exhibition presents the sights of big and small Belarusian towns.
Small towns of Belarus make the image of the country. Today, town-planners and architects work for safekeeping, or, in a number of cases, for reconstruction of each Belarusian small town. In this connection the government of the Republic of Belarus has adopted the State Program for development of regions and small urban settlements for 2007–2010. The journal “Architecture and Building” displayed at the exhibition acquaints with the prospects and aims of the Program (2008. – № 2).
Towns like people: each town has its own destiny and unique image, its own holidays and anniversaries. Thus the offered exhibition presents journal articles dedicated to the 600th anniversary of the old Belarusian town Postavy. Looking at the map you can see that Belarus is located in the very center of Europe. The article by V. Korbut “How to reach the center of Europe?” is dedicated to the Belarusian town Polotsk which is the geographical center of Europe (Belarus. – 2009. – № 5. – P. 40–41).
The exposition totals about 40 articles from journals and newspapers issued in the last years.
